Owner, Artist

Jess is originally from Savannah, Ga, and has been professionally tattooing for 5 years. She has a BA focused in painting, ceramics, and art history, and is best known for her fine line flora and fauna work with traditional sensibilities. Additionally, she loves using bold color and lines any chance she can get. If you love traditional styles, she’s your gal! When she’s not tattooing, Jess can be found kicking it on her back porch with her partner, Rob, and spending time with her animals (especially Harry).

Artist

Amy specializes in cosmetic, fine line, and ornamental tattoos. She started her journey 4 years ago when she completed the first round of cosmetic tattoo training, and fell in love instantly! From there, she sought out every learning opportunity she could get her hands on, and began working in a tattoo shop. While there she also learned about body art tattooing. She absolutely loves what she does, and enjoys every creative moment with her clients 💕

Artist

Madison is a total nerd originally from Kennesaw, GA, and currently loving her third year of professional tattooing. She moved to Athens 6 years ago to attend UGA but eventually left to pursue an apprenticeship in the world of body art. She loves tattooing anime characters, botanical ornaments, sparkly animals, and anything magical!

Junior Artist

Klée graduated from their apprenticeship under Jess in May 2024. They moved from their hometown of Savannah, Georgia to Athens to attend the University of Georgia in 2018, and graduated with a BFA focus in printmaking. After graduating, they began working as an administrative assistant in a local tattoo shop. When they aren’t at Dark Horse working to complete their apprenticeship you can find them pedaling their bike around town, caring for their (very large) collection of plants, or drawing. Klée is also an avid reader, and always on the lookout for new books to add to their collection.

Mascot

Harry is a 13 year old quarter horse. This fancy boy fell into Jess’ lap shortly before opening the shop. After a 3 month stint in rehab he is now back on his feet, and enjoying semi-retirement. He’s the sweetest, best boy, and will only know kindness and love as Dark Horse’s mascot.
